News from First Grade: November 16

Dear Parents,

I hope you all have an amazing Thanksgiving Break! Enjoy some time with family and friends! 
Flat Turkey: Tomorrow, your kiddos will be coming home with a fun Thanksgiving assignment. They will bring home a "Flat Turkey" and it will spend the holiday break with them. They will fill out a page that tells about everything Flat Turkey did over break and will share with the class when we return on November 27! Students will also have the option to take photos of Flat Turkey's adventures to show the class.
Oral Presentations: If your kiddo forgot their oral presentation today, they can still bring it tomorrow! We will be presenting tomorrow afternoon.
Library: Tomorrow is library day - please help your kiddo remember their books so they can check out new ones.
Scholastic: I am placing our November Scholastic book order tomorrow afternoon. If you are interested in getting any books for the holidays, this will be the last order that will arrive in time. You can order o…

News from First Grade: November 9

Dear Parents,
One more week until Thanksgiving break - I can't believe it! We are having a great week and have been working really hard!
Veteran's Day Assembly: Tomorrow morning is our school Veteran's Day Assembly. Please have your child wear red, white, or blue if possible. We are inviting all veterans to join us from 7:00-7:30 am for a reception in their honor in the library. The assembly will begin at 7:35 am.

Soil: Just a reminder, if you haven't already done so, please help your child to collect a soil sample and send it to school in a ziploc baggie tomorrow. We will be observing and comparing these soils next week!

Library: We have library tomorrow! Please help your kiddo remember their library books so they can check out some new ones.

News from First Grade: November 3

Dear Parents,

We had a blast today celebrating the 50th day of school. There were some absolutely adorable outfits and the kiddos (and their teacher!) had a blast doing the twist and the hand jive at tour sock hop and drinking root beer floats at our "drive-in" movie. Don't forget, Passport to Sommer is this evening from 5:30-8:30!

Nov. 10: Soil samples due for science class
Nov. 10: All School Assembly: Veterans Day (wear red, white, or blue please)
Nov. 20-24: Thanksgiving Break/No School
Scholastic Book Orders: Scholastic order forms went home yesterday in daily folders. If you would like to order any books, please order online or return the form with your payment by 11/17. Every time you place an order, we earn points to use on books for our class library! :)

News from First Grade: October 26

Dear Parents,

It has been a busy week! We began handwriting practice, spelling, and sight words this week! You may have noticed that reflection sheets didn't get checked every day this week - don't worry, I am still going to be checking them. We have just been doing handwriting at the end of the day and haven't managed to work out the timing yet! :)

Class Announcements:
Stuff the Boots: Tomorrow is the last day of the Stuff the Boots school fundraiser! As of yesterday, we were 50% of the way to our class goal, but we still need around $300 to fill our boot. If you are able to donate, please go online or send in your donation by tomorrow! Thank you so much for helping our school!

Library: We have library tomorrow. Please help your kiddo remember to bring their library books.

Halloween: Next Tuesday, the school is having book character dress up day. Students may dress up as a character from a book and can bring the book with them to show the class. We will also be doing some fun …

Dear Parents,

I can't believe we are at the end of the first nine weeks of school! Thanksgiving will be here before we know it! Report cards should be coming home the week after next, so be on the look out! Below are a few important reminders for the week.

News from First Grade: October 12

Dear Parents,

I really enjoyed getting to meet with many of you on Monday for parent conferences and am looking forward to sitting down with the rest of you over the next few weeks. I will be out tomorrow 10/13 (going out of town) AND Monday 10/16 (all day school meeting), so if you have any changes in transportation please be sure to send a note with your kiddo.

Dear Parents,
We are having a great week and have a super fun day planned for tomorrow - Mystery Reader, Innovation Station, AND Library! We will also be taking a school-wide picture tomorrow. If possible, have your kiddos wear school colors - red or gold.
Don't forget - no school for students on Monday and Tuesday of next week. I am looking forward to chatting with those of you who have conferences scheduled for Monday!
