News from First Grade: January 10

Dear Parents,

Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful winter break and got to spend a lot of quality time with your kiddos. We have had a great week jumping back into learning and I am really soaking in these last few weeks before I am out on maternity leave!

We had a fun day today learning about several different holidays that are celebrated at this time of year by rotating to different teachers' classrooms. Our class did such a nice job of being respectful when they were in other rooms! We have a super fun few days planned for next week - details below!

Dear Parents,
We had a fun week comparing different versions of Cinderella from around the world and continuing to work on writing our own fairy tales. Students have also been working really hard on their PBL Kindness Project - make sure to ask them about it!

I will be out tomorrow for a family funeral, so if you have any transportation changes, please communicate them through the front office. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Dear Parents,
We had a great first week back from Thanksgiving break! Hope you all had a nice holiday and enjoyed spending time with family and friends! We have lots of fun planned for the next few weeks before Winter Break - ask your students about our Kindness PBL and the fairy tales they have been working on! :)

Reading Logs: Schlitterbahn’s Waves of Pages and Six Flags' Read To Succeed reading logs came home today. Students can earn a free ticket to each by filling out and returning logs by specified dates. 

Morning Drop Off: PARENTS - MORNING SAFETY CONCERN: Car rider drop-off closes at 7:40 and side doors are locked. PLEASE DRIVE TO THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL TO DROP-OFF YOUR CHILD AFTER 7:40 a.m.

Can't believe we are a little over a week away from Thanksgiving Break! We have had a busy week of learning - working on main idea, how-to writing, water sources, and subtraction! We also spent time this week learning about and participating in voting and creating patriotic cards for our Veteran's Day assembly.

News from First Grade: November 1

Dear Parents,

We had such a fun week celebrating the 50th Day of School and Book Character Dress Up Day! The students looked wonderful in their fun costumes this week. Yesterday we had a blast with different STEM Challenges throughout the day. We exploded pumpkins and we built bridges with q-tips and pipe cleaners to try and hold a motorcycle toy. Check Class Dojo for pictures of our fun!
